Phew. Time to breathe for a bit now. ‘Cross season is over. Heading into nationals in Kansas City I have to say I was bummed it was going to be over when it seemed like it was just busting loose, but as soon as the race was over my head changed gears and I was stoked that I now get a week break. A week off the bike – is that too long? Haha. I guess I finished off the season with a decent ride in KC. Happy to have finished where I did considering a 5th row start but bummed that I didn’t quite have enough to catch the 3 in front of me who ended up sprinting for 4th place. Would have been nice to get a podium spot, and to boot it would have broken Cal Giant’s team record of 7 podiums at nationals (Rachel’s 3rd tied the record). Next year.
Thanks to all the awesome folks out there who put on these great events and to the super fans who come out to support the races and the cyclists. Ya’ll really know how to make this gig worth all the pain.
Thankful to have this week off the bike since it was well below zero yesterday and the weather isn’t showing much promise for warming up much! Happy to not be stuck in the basement doing intervals on the trainer. That starts next week. Ouch. In the meantime, I think it’s time to start painting the house – the inside, of course.
