Sweatin’ buckets

Stage 2 at Joe Martin over and done with. Jo wins and Kat rounds out the podium. Nice job girls!!! We never would have guessed it this morning but we ended up racing on dry roads, however we were anything but dry since the humidity was through the roof. It was most definitely another sweat fest out there (which makes all the tape around my road rash feel that much irritating!). As far as the racing went, we tried to get things going early but no one was able to slip away. Eventually a group of 3 formed on the main climb of the day but the group was missing a few key ingredients…Team Type I and TIBCO. Not wanting the race to completely ride away from us, we joined TTI at the front to bring the break back. Attacks went left and right as soon as we made contact with the break but nothing was strong enough to do any damage. The 4 of us in the main group sat in the last 15km or so to rest up the legs for the finale. Somewhere around 2km to go I went to the front with Lauren, Kat and Jo in tow. As soon as I ran out of steam, Lauren took the girls around me and they stormed the finish. How things unfolded I’m not exactly sure since I crawled my way to the finish (once again I did not have a great day – I had to claw my way back on the climb and felt like I really didn’t have much to contribute today), but I knew that something good had happened as I crossed the finish line and heard the announcer say something about the Kiwi Kiesanowski. High fives and hugs all around back at the team van! Solid effort from everyone today. Let’s hope that we race well again tomorrow and that poor Emma doesn’t have to stand on the side of the road for 10 minutes waiting for a double wheel change!
